Preview of hairstyles and fashion looks for the October festival at the Kaiser Wiesn in the Prater in Vienna

The annual October festival 'Oktoberfest' is the world's largest folk festival. It originated in Munich in the early 19th century and is now celebrated in rural towns as well as in metropolitan cities. In Vienna, the 'Kaiser Wiesn' is the largest Oktoberfest. This year it will be celebrated from 21 September until 8 October with live music performances by folk & rock bands and gastronomy in several tents and wooden alpine huts

One of this year's special attractions is the 17-meter Red Cross blood mobile. Visitors can donate blood on selected days. The Red Cross campaign was promoted with the beer festival's typical phrase 'O'zapft is', which is normally used to announce the opening of the Oktoberfest when the first beer barrel is tapped. In the Austrian dialect, the phrase has a double meaning in this context.

Other special features of the festival are the Kaiser Wiesn's collaborations with the traditional clothing retailer Original Salzburger Trachten and the hair products brand Wella Professionals. On the Kaiser Wiesn website at kaiserwiesn.at/dirndl-lederhose-geschichte-trends/, Sascha Golitschek, CEO of Original Salzburger Trachten, talks about traditional clothing, including the history of the dirndl, which dates back to the 19th century, and the current trend of wearing 'old' jewelry with a modern dirndl.

Recently, Wella Professionals, the exclusive hair care partner of Kaiser Wiesn 2023, offered expert styling advice for the upcoming Oktoberfest event. The hair specialist teamed up with the Viennese hairdresser Patrick Raitz, owner of the Ultimativ Group, who created braided up-dos using Wella's EIMI range of styling products and hair accessories from Vienna-based design label 'We Are Flowergirls'.

The press release quotes Patrick Raitz. The hairstylist suggests that the ideal casual Oktoberfest hairstyle usually requires minimal effort. He mentions that there are several quick-braid styles that can be easily imitated at home.

In his eyes, it's easy - he has practice!
