Hair care tips to protect yourself from the sun and heat in summer from Viennese hair salon owners Hannes Steinmetz and Vanessa Steinmetz-Bundy

This week Fashion.at received practical tips for summer hair care from the Viennese hairdresser 'Steinmetz-Bundy Privatsalon'. The press release started with a question that has probably been asked several times by customers: "Can hair really get sunburned?" The simple answer is: No. But the scalp can get sunburned and the hair itself - its structure and color - is also affected by intense sun exposure, UV radiation, heat, wind and salt water or chlorine.

Award-winning hairdresser Hannes Steinmetz offers six tips to keep hair and scalp healthy during summer, as summarized by Fashion.at:

Limit sun exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure to protect your hair and scalp, such as by using a sunshade.
Wear protective headgear: Use hats, caps, scarves or turbans to protect your hair and scalp.
Use UV-protective products: Apply UV-protective hair creams, oils, or sprays.
Rinse hair after swimming: Remove salt and chlorine by rinsing hair thoroughly after swimming.
Protect hair from wind: Tie back or cover hair to prevent wind damage.
Maintain moisture levels: Use moisturizers daily to keep hair hydrated.

In addition, Hannes Steinmetz recommends refreshing hair color with gentle techniques to avoid damage and applying personalized care routines to improve hair health and appearance. At Steinmetz-Bundy, customers can get advice on a personalized care routine from a mix of shampoo, conditioner, mask, scalp lotion, leave-in, heat protection, etc., which is developed based on individual needs and the status of the hair structure and scalp, as Vanessa Steinmetz-Bundy, managing director of the two salons - one on Opernring in the 1st district and the other on Billrothstrasse in the 19th district - introduced the summer sun and heat protection service.
