Aroma Journey for Body and Mind

On occasion of the 30th anniversary Aveda launches in mid September 2008 a new product series which memorizes the Ayurvedic heritage of the Aveda product lines. The Chakra Balancing Body Mists - refreshing aromatic body sprays based on the seven chakras - are developed to support healing and well-being by inviting the user to an aroma journey of the body and mind.

Ayurveda Originating in India more than 5,000 years ago, the philosophy of Ayurveda recognizes seven main chakras, or, energy centers in the body. Each chakra can affect wellness. When one chakra is blocked, there is an imbalance, resulting in a diminished sense of well-being.

How to travel with your body and mind:
First you have to find your next Aveda Spa (www.aveda.com). There they will offer you "Chakra Journey Cards"! With these cards you will be guided to determine which chakra aroma you need. Select from random laid cards in front of you the three cards you identify most. Now Aveda specialists let you experience each of the three aromas with an Aveda Sensory Journey. Now select one aroma: this aroma is likely the right aroma to inspire balance and well-being for that day. Spray it all over your, not onto your face!

To give you a imagination of the scents and meaning of the 7 Chakra Balancing Body Mists, check out the 3 following selected aromas which enhance the balance of Harmony, Wisdom, Expression.

Harmony is supported by the aroma of mandarin, palmarosa, and sandalwood. You can find the balancing mixture in CHAKRA 4. "Anahata" is the name of this chakra which is located in the center of chest. It is the center of sympathy, empathy and love. When the heart chakra is balanced, you feel love and connection to yourself and others. When the heart chakra is imbalanced, one feels depression, loss of connection and lack of caring. Each chakra has an own color: this one is visualized by green.

Who doesn't want get wisdom? Chakra 7 is Sahasrara. It stands for the center of connecting to something greater than oneself, and expressing wisdom and enlightenment. When the crown chakra is balanced, you feel strong, unclouded and joy for life. When the crown chakra is imbalanced, one feels loss of self, spiritual abandonment and lack of connection to the universe. You can experience this chakra in the crown of your head. Its color is the metaphysical violet. Aveda mixes angelica root, organic elemi, and olibanum for the wisdom chakra.

Expression is important for all the ones who love to be creative! Chakra 5 is made to balance "Visuddha", the center of creativity, self-expression and communication. When the throat chakra is balanced, you have inner trust, inner reliance and can more easily express ideas and thoughts. When the throat chakra is imbalanced, one feels selfish, has feelings of rejection and has difficulty in expressing oneself. You can experience it in your throat. The color of this chakra is light blue. Aveda's ingredients for the scent: certified organic grapefruit, certified organic rosemary and organic ylang ylang.
